C-T-CSCIP (Schools Careers Industry Partnership) Programme

"Skill is the most important lever within our control to create wealth and reduce social deprivation."
Leitch 2006

The SCIP Programme is delivered in schools with a maximum of 12 pupils per workshop (1 Day)

The SCIP programme is aimed at helping 4th – 6th year pupils who are transitioning directly into work after leaving school. The programme is designed to bridge the skills gap and give pupils a clearer understanding of what is required of them in a job application and interview.

It focuses on building self- confidence, understanding more about themselves, how they think and communicate with others and how to maximise these skills in an interview situation. They build a professional and effective CV throughout the day with input from business professionals, experience a 1:1 interview with honest and constructive feedback and finally they learn what is involved in an Assessment Centre and take part in a group exercise.

Industry sponsors play a big part in SCIP. They attend the whole day, giving an informative presentation about their company, what they do, what they look for in employees, how they recruit and they also give valuable information and feedback to pupils throughout the day.

The testimonials from pupils, teachers and sponsors are glowing and the results phenomenal.

"Firstly, can I just thank you both sincerely for your fantastic input yesterday here in Fraserburgh with our 12 youngsters.  I have met a couple of them today and they are still raving on about their day - very positive. Have  spoken to the pupils and to Jack Barnett - glowing reports all round and one pupil even managed to mention his visit to Total in an interview situation this week in response to a question!"
Helen Hendry, PT Guidance, Fraserburgh Academy

"Schools are preparing young people for the world of work and working with partners, to enhance pupil experiences are vital. Having companies, partners, work with pupils really brings home the relevance in a way that schools cannot do on their own."

Comments from teachers:

"The opportunity to work with a local company that the SCIP Workshop has provided us with has been tremendous.  It has focused our pupils and given them a real goal to aim for.  The offer of a tour of the company's premises is a real bonus as it gives the pupils the chance to see a real life working environment on the doorstep."

Comments from teachers:

"...the one-to-one support that the SCIP workshop provided was, I feel,  a very positive addition to the activities we already have on the calendar to support pupils at the post 16 transition.
I would certainly be keen to run the event again and would recommend it to other schools."
Sue Cameron, Depute Rector, Banchory Academy

"The whole day was excellent. Pupils were given clear guidelines on how to present themselves before, during and after interview and relished the chance to practice their skills in the mock interview sessions. The presenters gave excellent individual feedback and encouraged the pupils to peer and self evaluate. A great experience and thoroughly recommended."
